There are people who seem to be everywhere, not by chance, but because their presence weaves the threads that support a system in motion. This is how it is Alejo HeymoOperations and Innovation Coordinator at La Mano del Monowho has been making his mark for more than four years in multiple spaces: the Operating Circle, the Alliances Circle, the General Circle and the Purpose Circle. "I'm everywhere, haha." he comments with a chuckle, revealing his characteristic mix of humor and commitment.
In his role, Alejo accompanies and coaches the operational team in active projects so that the commitments assumed with clients and partners are fulfilled in an agile and efficient manner, always aligned with the organization's purpose. But there is also a deeper background: constant learning. "We ensure continuous updating of our model. Market Ready TourismWe are incorporating what we learn in the operation to offer services that are increasingly aligned with the needs of the market".he explains.
It is easy to understand why Alejo is a key player in the evolution of the model. He talks about innovation not as something that is imposed, but rather as something that is emerges from collective learning.
"I am like a farmer. Someone who sows curiosity, cultivates capacity for wonder and harvests learning."
The value of genuine encounters
When asked what he enjoys most about his job, his answer is far from technical or strategic. "The sparkle in other people's eyes when they discover something from the heart."he says without hesitation. He speaks of those "eureka" moments when an idea, an experience or a link touches something deeper: emotion and consciousness.
He is inspired by the bonds, shared learning and the possibility of creating human networks that go beyond work. "I am inspired by genuine encounters and working collectively for a common purpose."he confesses.
And the truth is that Alejo experiences these ties firsthand. He remembers with special affection the reunions with the social enterprises that La Mano del Mono has accompanied over the years. "I love hearing how your story continued, what new challenges you've faced, whether or not the strategies we designed together flourished...and why."
As he recounts a recent visit to the coast of Oaxaca, his voice softens. "I visited Marina and Ana Lilia. I saw their long-awaited turtle hatchery, and they met my one-year-old daughter. I also stayed at YooNashi and spent time with Mariano and Vanessa. We updated each other on how their project has progressed, while sharing with my parents."
His story combines the human and professional sides with a naturalness that reflects the spirit of La Mano del Mono: to accompany from the link, not only from the strategy..
Between structure and emergence
When talking about the challenges of his work, Alejo does not hesitate to acknowledge that staying on top of everything that is happening - ongoing projects, new processes, alliances to be established - requires organization, anticipation and effective and affective communication.
But there is something more than technique: a philosophy in the face of change. "Evolution not only responds to change, it also creates it."he states with conviction. And then, as if issuing a gentle but firm reminder, he adds:
"Abandon the illusion of control and rise to understand, accept and enjoy the emerging - come on, you're already late!"
It is a phrase that synthesizes his way of seeing innovation: not as a search for certainties, but as a constant dance with the unexpected and an invitation to new people seeking to join in. cutie.
Regenerating ties, regenerating territories
Alejo deeply believes that the regeneration of links is the basis for the regeneration of territories. His vision transcends projects and metrics: he sees in every interaction, in every shared learning, an opportunity for connection and transformation.
And as we talk, it becomes clear to me that this is precisely the essence of La Mano del Mono: an organization that is committed to collective learning, human networks and constant evolution.
Alejo reflects the spirit of those who make our impact possible: people who sow curiosity, cultivate bonds and harvest learning to build, together, a tourism that transforms and regenerates.
