We are grateful for the recognition we have received over the past 15 years.

The New Era of La Mano del Mono: Regenerative Tourism

At La Mano del Mono, we firmly believe that the time has come to redefine our relationship with nature. For years, we have worked tirelessly to protect natural areas and support local communities through sustainable tourism. However, the world has changed and we must evolve as well. That's why today we are excited to introduce our new identity and mission focused on regenerative tourism.

Why are we renewing ourselves?

We recognize and celebrate the crucial role that local communities, true custodians of nature, and our partners have played in every achievement. For more than 15 years, together we have been moving towards a regenerative tourism where every action benefits both nature and those who inhabit it. We are proud to join together to learn and relearn from their wisdom, promoting initiatives that strengthen the connection between people and their natural environment.

For us, regenerative tourism means much more than minimizing environmental impact; it is about restoring and revitalizing ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. In the past, our partnerships focused on conservation and community well-being through tourism. Now, we are taking it a step further: using tourism as a powerful tool for regeneration. We want each partner and community to be part of not just one organization, but a movement that generates global impacts through tourism.

Stories of Transformation

In August 2007, in the heart of the Lacandon jungle in Chiapas, Mexico, the seed of what would become La Mano del Mono was sown. This organization was born in response to the pressing need to restore the habitat of howler monkeys, who had chosen to abandon their environment. The absence of these saraguatos became a revelation, a living testimony to the latent disconnect between the community and its natural environment. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of a change with the ambitious mission of uniting environmental education and tourism, transforming not only the natural landscape, but also the lives of those who called this region home.

With more than 15 years of experience and adapting to new global dynamics, we have decided to introduce our new image to reflect our ongoing quest for impact and meaning in the communities we serve. Since our modest beginnings, we have been committed to the transformative power of "Local Hands, Global Change". This phrase not only defined our mission, but also captured the essence of our tireless work to empower local communities and create change that transcends borders.

Our New Identity: A Symbol of Renewal

However, as in any story of growth and evolution, the time has come to write a new chapter. Today, it is with great enthusiasm that we announce our rebranding as LMDM (La Mano del Mono). This strategy is not just an abbreviation, but a manifestation of wisdom and experience accumulated over the years. LMDM represents our renewed identity and our proven ability to regenerate natural areas and the well-being of the local communities that depend on them. We are also proud to launch our new website, which will become a fundamental space to recognize and strengthen our allies, thus expanding our impact and our collaboration network in Latin America.

A Renewed Commitment

We are committed not only to minimizing environmental impact, but to actively revitalizing and regenerating ecosystems through our actions. In every step we take, we seek to strengthen the vital connection between humans and nature, building a future where tourism that preserves, but also promotes the health and beauty of our planet.

Our new tagline, "Local Hands, Global Impacts".encapsulates our renewed purpose. We create strategic alliances to make tourism more than a recreational activity, making it an active force for the regeneration of natural areas and the well-being of local communities.

This symbolism transcends mere graphic representation; it presents a wiser monkey committed to caring for our planet, while incorporating flowing lines that connect the monkey to the blue globe. These lines are not mere aesthetic strokes; they are a powerful symbol of synergy and connection, representing the harmonious interaction between all elements of our ecosystem, from local communities to the natural ecosystems that surround us. This design acts as a constant reminder of our commitment to regenerative tourism. As we move forward, we strive to build stronger bridges between people, cultures and natural environments, ensuring that our work contributes positively to the well-being of our shared world.

You are also part of La Mano del Mono (LMDM)

We consider ourselves much more than an organization: today it is an inclusive and transformative movement that promotes the regeneration of our natural environments through responsible and sustainable tourism. From our roots in the Lacandon jungle to every corner of the world we touch, we extend an open invitation to join us in this urgent and necessary cause.

La Mano del Mono (LMDM) is everyone and represents an opportunity for each person to become an active agent of change towards a future where nature flourishes and communities thrive. Through our new logo, which symbolizes more wisdom, commitment and connection to the planet, we want every individual, every ally to feel inspired to be part of our story and to embrace our mission as their own.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Without your support and commitment, La Mano del Mono (LMDM) could not exist. Together, we are making a difference and every step forward is a step towards restoration and respect for our natural environment.

Thank you for belonging not to an organization but to a movement where we create alliances, so that tourism contributes to the regeneration of natural areas and the well-being of local communities.
