Every step we take at La Mano del Mono carries with it the essence of a shared purpose: to make tourism a tool to regenerate, preserve and connect. Today, as we receive the Tourinews Social Commitment Award 2024 in the Canary Islands, we feel that this path, traced together with so many hands, is strengthened and finds a new impulse.
This recognition is not only a celebration for us, but a reflection of the collective effort of the indigenous and rural communities we work with in Mexico and Latin America. Since our first initiatives, we have believed that tourism can and should go beyond being a simple economic activity. For us, this sector has the potential to regenerate relationships between people and nature, preserve traditions and cultures, and open up real opportunities for those who care for and inhabit the territories.
A journey full of learning
In each project, we have learned something new. Working with more than 650 companies dedicated to adventure tourism and unique experiences, we have seen how training and accompaniment not only transform businesses, but also lives. These companies, now connected to national and international markets, have found a new lease on life to strengthen local economies while protecting what makes them unique: their identity and the cultural richness of their communities.
Beyond the numbers, such as the 9,100 families that have benefited from the opportunities generated, what moves us most are the stories behind each achievement. Stories of women and men who see in their territories a place to live and a legacy that deserves to be protected and shared with the world.
Recognition of co-creation
This award is a reminder that our mission would not be possible without collective work. Every step taken has been driven by our collaborators, whom we consider more than partners: they are our brothers on this journey. Together with them, the communities, businesses and partners who share our vision, we have demonstrated that tourism can be a force that respects, values and regenerates. It inspires us to know that, together, we have woven a network that connects destinations and, at the same time, strengthens the bonds between the human and the natural.
Cultivating tomorrow
For us, receiving this recognition is not a point of arrival, but an invitation to continue moving forward. It encourages us to renew our commitment to build alliances that allow tourism to continue regenerating natural areas and improving the quality of life of those who live there.
We are convinced that tourism can be a transformative force when it is built on listening, respect and collaboration. With this vision, we continue to dream of a future in which cultures, people and nature flourish together.
Thanks to Tourinews for appreciating this effort, and to all the people and communities that have made this story possible. The journey continues, and we are still here, united, cultivating destinations for a more harmonious world.
Because the best stories are always written with many hands..
