For 15 years, La Mano del Mono (LMDM) has led a movement that connects people, communities and organizations with a common goal: to transform tourism into a tool for environmental regeneration and community well-being. Its achievements are impressive: more than 600 tourism enterprises strengthened and connected to the market, 8,000 leaders trained as agents of change, 100 revitalized natural areas, 6 co-designed public policies and almost 12,000 rural and indigenous families with supplementary income from regenerative tourism.
On November 13, LMDM held its annual meeting on 15th anniversary at Casa CEMEFI in Mexico City, an event that honored its trajectory and looked to the future. The meeting, which was attended by former employees, allies and clients, became a space to reflect on the company's achievements and to present the new strategies that will guide its path.
One of the highlights was the closing of the experimental phase of the program. MAPS(Mexican Accelerator Program for Social Entrepreneurs)developed together with New Ventures and IKEAThe project, consolidating LMDM as a benchmark in innovation and social action within regenerative tourism.
With a new brand and innovative strategies, LMDM reaffirms its commitment to environmental regeneration and community well-being, opening the way to a new era full of challenges and opportunities.
Traveling through the history of LMDM
Since its creation, La Mano del Mono has worked to reconnect people with nature through regenerative tourism. During these 15 years, he has led key initiatives such as Market Readywhich integrates local communities in sustainable tourism practices, and Metiches by Naturea communications strategy designed to inspire environmental activism and Reserva Naturathe first digital platform that connects travelers with natural areas in Mexico and Latin America, promoting sustainable and regenerative tourism.
The event included a touching video that recalled key moments in the history of LMDM, as well as presentations on its main initiatives. The day culminated with the announcement of the two areas selected to pilot the Reserva Natura model: Monarch Butterfly y Vizcaino Biosphere ReserveThe event generated enthusiasm among the attendees and reaffirmed LMDM's commitment to environmental regeneration.
Connection from the community spirit
Among the anniversary activities was the dynamic "We are Mones"designed to strengthen collaboration among the guests. This exercise, inspired by LMDM's community spirit, allowed attendees to share their visions and experiences, generating synergies that reflect the central purpose of the organization: to build strategic alliances that promote the regeneration of natural areas and the well-being of local communities.
A new tomorrow for the organization
The commemorative event was much more than a celebration; it marked the beginning of a new stage in LMDM's trajectory. With initiatives such as Reserva Natura, Metiches by Nature, Market Ready and the strengthening of strategic alliances, LMDM continues to demonstrate that regenerative tourism is a powerful tool for transforming communities and ecosystems.
Today, La Mano del Mono reaffirms its purpose of joining local hands to generate global impacts, laying the groundwork for a regenerative and sustainable future full of possibilities for the grassroots.
We extend our most sincere thanks to organizations such as New Ventures, UNDP, Ashoka, TNC, WWF, the University of Querétaro, GIZ, Reforestamos México, Pronatura, as well as local communities, the media and social organizations. Their participation and commitment made this meeting an enriching space to share knowledge, experiences and strengthen alliances that promote a more sustainable and regenerative future.
